Is Sydney Marketing Community free to join?
Yes! As at January 2026 there is no cost to join Sydney Marketing Community. There are costs for some of our activities, including most events.
Do I need to be working in marketing to join as a Marketing Member?
Yes. You also qualify if you have worked in marketing but are out of a marketing role temporarily.
If you are working at a supplier or agency supporting marketing teams then you can join as an Industry Member.
What is the difference between a Marketing Member and an Industry Member?
A Marketing Member is someone currently (or recently) working in a marketing role or someone studying marketing. An Industry Member is someone who works with marketers as a supplier or agency partner.
In order to maintain the peer to peer focus of Sydney Marketing Community there are limited events that Industry Members can attend and very limited tickets for Industry Members. Industry Member ticket costs are also higher.
Do I need to live in Sydney to apply?
No. Some of our offers and events are based in Sydney but you are welcome to join from anywhere.
Are events in-person or online?
We're planning a mix of in-person and online events. We'll be led by community feedback on their preferred format.
What type of marketers should join?
Marketers may work in a very specialised area or more broadly across a number of areas. SMC welcomes all marketers, regardless of their specialisation. We believe it's important we all have some knowledge about different areas of marketing and how they might apply in our roles. Developing a broader view is also critically important in staying current, progressing in our careers and moving into new roles.
